OK - so I have just got married and the wedding planning process was a huge undertaking. For anyone planning on getting married anytime soon, I just want to recommend a few places that I found excellent to deal with.

First - I had cookies for my bonboniere - www.ohsosweet.com.au have the best cookie products - great for any occasion actually. Fast and friendly service - would highly recommend. All of our guests were so impressed.

Second - If you decide to make your own invitations, look at Spotlight for paper. Don't bother with specialty stores that sell invitations - Spotlight by far were the cheapest and have a good range. Good place to pick up bonboniere or hen's party supplies too.

Third - Flowers (if you are in Melbourne). This was a recommendation to me and I was SOOOO happy. Flowers in a Vase is a small business based out of Florilegia Nursery in Macedon and the flowers were AMAZING, service was brilliant and price was very reasonable.

Fourth - Our (Melbourne based) photographer was excellent - www.opmi.com.au. Her name is Bec and we were really happy with the job she did. Instead of getting an album, we opted to receive all of our photos on DVD - a fantastic option as I have already printed out the photos I wanted for myself and I could choose however many I wanted to print without having to wait. A friend of mine got married in March and still hasn't got her pics - I got married in July and have mine now.

If you are in Melbourne, I can definetely say to NOT use Eiffel Tower Cakes. Cake looked and tasted great and was relatively well priced, but was meant to be delivered to our reception venue at 1pm, and at 4pm still had not arrived. We had to call them to follow up and it eventually arrived at 5.30pm. NOT GOOD, and certainly not something you want to worry about on your wedding day.

Im getting married in November and I can recommend the heart chocolates I bought from Xantrade. They are 100% cadbury chocolate $20-22/kilo and any colour as well as any filling they have listed you can have and they are superfast with delivery! I think it was $14 postage to Adelaide. Excellent! www.xantrade.com

My best tip is Ebay
Seriously i bought nearly everything for my wedding on Ebay & saved a fortune.
I mamaged to get handmade invitations that were a message in a bottle, filled with shells and sand all indiviually boxed with raffia, the bottle had our names & date so they became a souvineer there was the invite, the treasure chest insert and a reply card w/ enveople, shipped from the USA and it was cheaper than either me doing it myself (as if i woulda done it) or getting a stock standard print from here.

The veil - when i got my dress i tried on an $80 and $150 veil - ebay has them just as nice for max $30 i got mine and it was beautiful and it suited perfect

I also got DIY bonbonierre tresure chests with choccy inserts for about $100 for 50

I even got my flowerd off ebay (satin) they turned out fantastic in all the photo's and didn't wilt!

There are plenty of online bridal stores on ebay and they are so cheap & you can combine shipping costs

I found by doing this i could spend more on the things people remember like the restaurant and drinks etc

I also recommend eBay, there is a heap of wedding accessories on there, I found my hair pins on there and they were a third of the price in the shops.

For all the lovely Melbourne brides I can highly recommend Fiona from Kochou for hair and make-up. she was fantastic! Great fun and does a beautiful job at a competitive price.

We used Kate Ramsey as our photographer and I can't recommend her highly enough, she does an aamzing job (which is probably why she is an ABIA award winner), offers a reasonably priced package and best of all doesn't copyright her prints and gives you high resolution prints so you can print your own photos for family and friends.

Ginny from Jag Jaunts was also great if anyone is looking for vintage Jags as their wedding cars.

My daughter is getting married in 6 weeks time. We have done a lot of things ourselves. We have used ebay for paper for the invitations, the hoop for the dress (only $20) and brooches for on the dresses. I would recommend ebay but be careful as some of the cheaper imported goods are a little poor quality and tacky.
I am making bridesmaids and flower girls dresses and would like to recommend our fabric shop. The Silk Trader in Hawthorn, Melbourne, Vic. They have a fantastic selection, good prices and the staff are very knowledgeable and helpful. They even helped us buy large enough remnant pieces to make the flower girls dresses that saved us a heap of cash.

And the great news was that Redkite received $1495.00 because of everyone that told Vibe Village how they found Aquim. That provides financial assistance to one family for 12 months as they go through their childhood cancer journey.
