It's the Stratus - cord free. I was atracted to it as they come in various colours. About a year after buying it the metal part at the base (INSIDE the kettle) has already developed rust marks!! Unbelievable, thought it shouldn't get rusty that quick. Contacted Breville, the customer service only offered to sell me another one of the same model at $5 off. What an insulting offer, who would like to buy another one of the same kettle if the quality is that dodgy.

We gave away our last kettle when we moved, it was a 10 year old kettle but still in very good condition. Needless to say it was NOT a Breville kettle.

I have a stainless steel breville kettle and i must admit if you dont regularly take the little lid of it and scrub it, it will rust onto the kettle... Not very happy about that.

what i cant understand about kettle is that they are made to have water in them, that is their sole purpose. so why do so many of them have problems with rust on the elements??

I've found that descaling your kettle really does help keep it in goo nick. Mind you I update my kettle almost yearly so I don't really know if I just haven't had a kettle long enough to get rust.

I definitely agree about Breville's quality with kettles. In the past 1.5 years my parents have gone through 3 of them. It's horrible.

I think that people don't realise how often you need to descale the kettle. Perhaps it's not rust but scale build up.
All you need to do is boil the kettle with 50%white vinegar 50% water solution. Then boil it again with plain water and discard this. If you do this once a month the kettle should look great for years.

I totaly agree with you spring, thats what people don't realise, just because you can't see the slimmey build up doesn't mean it's not there.I think kettles are a health risk that should carry more warning.

My Mum has had a couple of Breville products - a kettle and a mix master that made it to within a month of the gurarantee period and then died! This happened within the last 18 months. She complained to Breville of course and their very helpful...NOT...staff offered the same or similar products for a few dollars off. Yes an insulting offer. I would not buy anything Breville.

Two Breville Kettles in one year - the glass one shattered and thank goodness our toddler wasn't anywhere near by and the Stainless Steel rusted near the lid and the springs on the lid corroded and snapped off....

So we are using a saucepan at the moment to boil water and have had no troubles!!!
