Namely westpac
Our bank is Westpac, and we have been dealing with them for over 6 weeks to get a store operational on our web site. I would have to say that their service was crap. No one takes responsibility for anything.....

Yes, I was with westpac since I was in school years ago. But closed down my savings and credit card with them a couple of years back. I believe they used to be good years ago, but they've changed for the worst now. They wouldn't give us a very likable home loan either. So yay for ANZ.

All banks are the same.

I was with ANZ and closed my accounts with them, but they still sent me out statements stating i had overdrawn fees. This amounted to $300.00 plus dollars when i spoke to them about this, they stated oh it must be a mistake.

How many other people are they doing this to.

Make sure you check your statements.

If I could do without using banks I would. Only use them because I have to. I think they're all the same.

I had been with the Commonwealth Bank from birth - 20yrs and left them. For two years I had been the soul signatory on the account or so I believed. I didn't often go into the bank instead using their ATM's. The one day I had to go in they wouldn't allow me access to my money even though I had a card for the account with my signature on it. They said my mother was the signatory and I couldn't get MY money out without her permission. Not something you want to year as an independant young adult who has worked hard for their money. A week later the manager made a time to hear my complaint and appologize but it wasn't good enough. I didn't appreciate the attitude of the initial staff member and I hated the wait times there. So I changed to Bendigo Bank and haven't looked back. They really do put their customers first and the staff always seem happy there. I always felt like I was an inconvenience to the staff at CBA. I have been to various Bendigo Bank branches in the area and they always have a very short wait time to be served.

I'm with Commonwealthand since i was 6 with the old dollarmites saving account, i think they're great i have 2 savings accounts with them, internet banking and my credit card is aswell, they are always polite and if i need to speak to someone they even reorganise their breaks to fit into my uni hours, i think it depends on the staff at the branch on wether a bank is good or bad. But i'd have to say ANZ seems pretty good very well organised with their ticketing system so you dont have to stand in line for ages you can take a seat (i pay my grans rent at the ANZ)

I am with the commonwealth bank. We have a new one just opened in my area. I was so amazed. The service was so personal and the staff so very lovely. I have never ever come across such service in any bank. It was actually very enjoyable.

I think the banks have alot to do with the staff. I'm not happy with our bank (Suncorp Metway). But, sometimes when I go into a particular branch, they are really nice. Others, not so nice.
I've been happy with Suncorp insurance wise, but for general banking, not so happy.
My SIL manages a Bank of Qld branch, though, I still have not been swayed because of my brothers experience with BOQ.
I would love to hear our fellow Vibe Villagers opinion of a good bank.

I hate it when I "HAVE" to go into ANZ to pay money into my credit card. Makes me feel like a dick when I have to stop to get the stupid piece of paper to know when I'll be served. If they had more than 2 staff working at the one time they wouldn't need the ticket crap.
As for the Commonwealth Bank, well, the one in my town - sucks. The staff are ALL rude. I closed my account there and I am with Credit Union. What a relief to finally find a bank that cares about their customers.

I asked westapac (the bank who iwas with) for some info on a car loan the guy sitting at his little desk looked at me rolled his eyes and was llike just call this number. I closed my account with them and joined sydney credit union, got a loan all great but had some issues and they just never follow it up and i just get told oh we have wiped our hands of this issue now we don't want anything to do with it...
so now i am on the lookout for a new bank

My boyfriends CBA credit card has been used for purchases in the USA by a fraudster recently. They alerted him within a day of it happening (although thousands had been spent) which was great...but the weeks are passing and we are not getting any answers as to what has happened. The card was cancelled and he was told not to pay it off but hes now got a statement saying he owes that amount.
All this trouble because we went on a holiday to the US 6 months ago and unfortunately all hotels you stay at want a copy of your creditcard over there even if you booked months earlier and paid beforehand...hes never used it to purchase online etc..such a nightmare, not CBAs fault but they could keep the customer in the loop even if just to say we are still working on it..

I've been with a few banks and as far as I'm concerned they are all the same. I am with ANZ at present. I needed some information on my mortgage which they said they couldn't do at the branch and would send away to their head office. It took 6 weeks of phoning every day and having to explain the story almost every day because when I called to ask for the previous person I had spoke to, that person was either working in another dept that day or was not in lol. I dread having to go into my branch at any time.

I deal with a bank that doesn't have any branches near me, only one in each capital city. Any deposits are made at the Post Office, and everything else is done online. So easy, especially never having to go into a bank

Banks - they are greedy! I remember when you used to get paid cash in an envelope and didnt need to have your money go into a bank account.... now you have no choice! I also hate those ticket number machines they have, you might be the only custmer in there but you need to choose an option and get a number then WAIT your turn!!!!! go figure!!!! and yes there are only ever 2 tellers.... why??? ahhhhhhhh!

Oh and I wanted to add.... we had a Virgin credit card and never had any hassles, always helpful and friendly over the phone, never had to wait long to talk to an operator etc, even when we had some fraudulant spending on our card, got fixed up in a few weeks with no hassles, now they have been taken over by Wpc - I think the new card is called Ignite, well I had to call them today as locked myself out of internet banking, took them 10 minutes to answer the call..... at 8.15 in the morning!!! and all the while there was this recording, you know the usual, privacy policy, enter your customer number blah blah blah and it sounded like a 70 year old woman.... Bring back Virgin :(

i don't know who you should go with. moza.com.au did a survey on banks and it was very interesting what the results were. we are with cba/colonail for the home loan and they are horrid to deal with in regards to the mortgage, payments, etc.

credit cards - anz, cba, westpac, sml. we were in westpac the other day and it got a tad heated between soh and the guy behind the desk - he said he could control what we would get from the bank, help from them. the manager came in and the full story was not told to her and i am waiting to hear from her about it as i lodged a complaint about his behaviour - spoke over my soh, couldn't see soh name on my pension card, didn't listen when soh surname was spelt to him 2-3 times. going to be very intereting when/if she calls back about it because he was so in the wrong especially the comment about the things we would get from the bank. if not happy will be off to the banking obudsman as he was so wrong in his dealing with us, rolling his eyes, not listening to us, yelling at us, speaking over us.

i hate banks with a passion. sml harass you if you are late with your credit card payment. it is disgusting.
