| Hi everyone, I thought it might be good to start a forum on recommendations for travel/accommodation and activities. I wanted to suggest a place and haven't been able to find the right thread so hopefully there's others in the same boat. If anyone is in south-east Qld or northern NSW, there is a great company that does whale watching off Seaworld. They're called 'Spirit of Gold Coast' and not only are their prices affordable, they include morning tea, pretty much guarantee a whale sighting PLUS they do not charge for kids under 4 years old. This is a saving of up to $50 if you're child fits into this age group. You can also access a discount through shop-a-dockets which makes it even better value. The trip lasts about 3 hours and its a very enjoyable way to spend the morning. | | | |

| | An out of the way yet central place I stayed in a few years ago that has always stuck in my mind was Lansborough Pines Caravan Park QLD. When I was there the cabins were great, pool beautiful and the gardens were gorgeous. the place isnt far from a railway station and main highway but you dont hear it once inside the park. I have always wanted to go back buut have never had a reason of the cash to do it. The rates at the time were perfect for 2 teenagers to afford for a full week. | | | |

| It would be good if we could get discounts on theme world tickets to the gold coast like the locals do. Taking a family of 5 to any of theme parks cost well over $300. Unaffordable if you want to see more than one theme park. | | | |

| | You can print shop-a-dockets off the web. Google Hot Dockets and the state. Follow the links. Also NRMA and many Unions and Medical insurers off discounts. Check yours out. | | | |

| MyFun does good off peak discounts for theme parks.
Thailand is an awesome place visit. If you can get a good deal we managed to get 5 nights free(stay 10 get 5 free) and breakfast for our Honeymoon (they even decorated the bed with flowers in love hearts & such) and with flights it was about $3000 all up but once your there you don't need to spend much meals are very cheap you can get entree, main and a few drinks for $20 for 2! Our resort also had a kids club and 3 different pools so you could relax or have fun. Even the hotel bars aren't expensive by our standard

| | If you want a great holiday for families, drive around Tasmania it's fantastic! Sounds boring? No way! It has sooo many fantastic things for kids, Tasmazia, Cradle Mountain, Zeehan, Hobart, Launceston, Strahan...just to name a few! But Cradle Mountain was the best!! We went in July. There was still some snow, enough for the kids to play with, but not too much that we had to drive thru it. The walks are amazing. Especially around Dove Lake. Very cold, so the lake at Cradle mountain froze over, another great thing for the kids to do. Break of shards of ice and skip it across the ice. FUN, FUN, FUN! Our cabins had a gas fire and we even upgraded for a spa cabin no extra charge!! Plus breakfast is included. We even heard the most amazing singer in a pub called Irish Murphys in Salamanca Place, Hobart. She blew us all away. We're not normally into folk music, but she sang like an angel! Even our 9yr old boy loved it!! Needless to say we are now fans of the Amy Kendell blog!! Great trip, and great memories. We cant wait to go again. | | | |

| If you are going to Tassie definately don't miss Tasmazia (in the Promised Land lol). Also, Launceston Gorge, Cradle Mountain, Port Arthur and the Tahune Airwalk. I could go on and on and on lol but they are the biggies. Oh - and don't forget Mount Elephant Pancakes - they are on the Elephant Pass between St May's and St Helens (I think it's between those towns). The pancakes are HUGE - and I mean HUGE lol. They also have a shop in Launceston but the atmosphere at Mount Elephant is much better :-) We lived in Tassie for a year and I would still be able to find new things to do if I went back. It's also easy to get around and well signposted with no traffic (the traffic report everyday said 'still no radars, hassels or tangles'). | | | |

| Hello, When you first drive into the New South Wales town of Goulburn the main thing you notice is a massive merino sheep on the side of the road.
No, it isn't roadkill - but 15x18 metre statue dedicated to the merinos that made the countryside around Goulburn one of the biggest and richest wool areas in Australia.
As someone who loathes big anythings - be it bananas, prawns, pineapples or golf balls - the car kept on its way and the camera remained out of hand.
Anyway, despite the horrendous initial sight, Goulburn is an interesting sort of place and due to its being the first inland city in Australia has a lot of historical buildings and things to see.
There are some very nice cathedrals, a really interesting war memorial, a rail heritage centre and a most-excellent old brewery.
Seeing as it had been a long drive let's start with the brewery. It is Australia's oldest brewery complex and now produces boutique beers. Not only can you totter around the brew hall, but also check out the steam mill, barrel-making area, stables and old cottages.
thanks!! _______________ Bali Hotels

| Hello,
Many travelers seek out destinations that are particularly suited to specific activities, such as scuba diving or rock climbing. Some of these travel activities require specific gear, training, or planning to pursue, while others may be as simple as slipping into a warm spring to enjoy the soothing waters.
Thanks,
