I hope this is a suitable product to write about!

I got my new laptop this week and it lives up to most of the hype.

Once i got rid of alot of the pre-installed Dell programs it runs like a dream.

It is very stylish, the lcd screen is super bright and clear and i like the new keyboard setup with the touch buttons.

I bought it with the 25% off voucher that was valid over the Queens birthday weekend. So for the same price as a standard one i upgraded everything i could and i now have a awesome system that should last me for years to come.

Vista Ultimate

320g harddrive
4gb SDRAM
core2 duo processor T9500
256MB NVIDIA GeForce 8600
15.4" Widescreen display with TrueLife.
DVD/RW

Tv Tuner,
Card Reader,
Finger Print Scanner,

Plus heaps more.

I would have downgraded to XP as Vista has a lot of problems, 5 minutes into my new computer and i had an error but they wouldn't let me get XP on the XPS 1530.

I'm not sure what else to write?

Cheers Baycie.

Yep its a nice looking unit, whats the battery life like ?

I like the Dell's because if you have an issue they come and fix it.

The battery is pretty good if you are just doing light surfing but if you play a game or movie it doesn't last very long. If you run out of battery it saves your desktop and puts itself to sleep, i like that as on my old laptop you would loose everything!

I decided not to upgrade to the 9cell battery as it made the laptop sit too high.

baycie, can I ask how much you paid? My laptop will need upgrading in the very near future, it is so slow-it is ancient in computer world terms.

I recently bought a Dell laptop as well. No problems what so ever. Ive heard Vista can have problems but I havent had any. Great service. Ive left most of the pre-installed stuff on it. I just ignore what I dont use. Battery is fine so far. It is recommended to use mains power when possible to save the battery life but when Ive had it on battery its lasted a lot longer than my last more expensive laptop

Thats the thing with laptops...the price and a lot of laptops are just not reliable and longlife these days.

I have put a suggestion on the other foum thread about laptops being a consideration for members to test/trial, because really after 12 months many give up the ghost and its a waste of money.

the Dell sounds ok from what you have written.

Come back in 12 months and let us know if you are still happy, because this type of feedback is important where laptops are concerned.

cheers : )

I bought an XPS 1330 laptop about 9 months ago. Have to say it has been fantastic. I too got rid of all the Dell bloatware. It is fast, light, has a great screen and fantastic support. It is easy to update all the drivers as well. Vista is ok - some minor issues, but nothing as bad as the hype.

Dell are great for specials and the best thing is you can fully customise the unit to whatever you need.
